Recent OC Experiences
Some funny interesting things that have happened to me on the boardwalk in Ocean City, MD, recently:
"Man, get original! We know. He died. It says the same thing every year! Put something new up." -- One guys reaction to the Jesus sculptures on 2nd st.
Ive been coming to the boardwalk my whole life, but it wasnt until tonight that I saw hasidic jews on the boardwalk for the first time. Presumably it took 24 years because they looked just as out of place as you could imagine.
I walk onto the boardwalk and immediately I see a guy standing on a bench. He is advertising 'the worlds greatest detergent.' He selects a 'volunteer' from the crowd who is wearing a plain white t-shirt. Ketchup is splashed on his shirt and the shirt is plunged into a bucket containg the cleaning solution. The shirt comes out completely filthy, but the speaker says, "OK, so its not so amazing but now my friend will show you some thing that is more amazing." His friend takes over and is showing a big (3 ft. by 2 ft. or so) painting. The painting has four different boxes, into which he paints the words 'you', 'peace', 'love', and 'god'. I walk away.
Another new fad this summer in the junk stores on the boardwalk are these three foot rasta guys smoking a blunt (sort of like the cigar store indians).
Note: As i finished writing the previous into my Palm, some girls who were maybe all of 15 sat down on the same bench as me. One of them looked over at me and said, "Hi." So i said, "Hey", and then got up and left. (I had finished writing my notes, and all.) Later I passed them, still sitting on the same bench, and as I walked by I heard the same girl yell, "WHY'D YOU LEAVE US?" I wanted to yell back, BECAUSE I COULD BE ARRESTED but i just kept walking.
